Amuvik, or lower bow is glued up from 2x yellow cedar. The gunwale/endblock assembly is pegged, screwed, and lashed to the top of the amuvik. There is a small stop block glued in from of the gunwales, so as not to lose height in the slightly shallow lower bow piece. Normally the gunwales would be notched into the amuvik. Use of 2x6 on the horizontal would allow proper depth for notching.
