Fishing in the Queen Charlotte Islands |
Caitlin Erin and I had the opportunity to go fishing on the northernmost island of the Canadian Queen Charlotte Islands from June 5th to the 8th 2004.
Hopefully I'll get to update the story of the trip later, but here are some pictures and captions...
In Vancouver getting ready to board the charter plane. The helicopter that took us to the camp on Langara Island. Caitlin and Erin are in the jump-seat. Part of the floating lodge including the Kitchen and Dining area. The part of the lodge we stayed in with our fishing boat in the foreground. Erin in the hallway of our "bunkhouse suite" Two big Ling Cod on the scales with the fishergirls. Erin ready to drive our boat. Caitlin immediately after landing her 30.5 lb Chinook Tyee. Weighing in Caitlin's 30.5 and 33lb Tyees. Proud dad... One morning's catch of five Chinook. These stellar sea lions stole many fish off peoples lines, luckily not ours.
The humpback whales were our friends through much of the trip. This rock is called the flowerpot and is half under water at high tide.
