Sonkran celebrates the start of the rainy season. The traditional good luck blessing is to sprinkle water on someone. Over the years the tradition has become more than just a "sprinkle." We happened to be traveling in an area where a large irrigation canal paralleled the road for a number of miles where we came across quite a celebration...
Intermission for Stella being cute
The soaking parade... pickup trucks full of people road back and forth on the 5+ mile section of road being drenched every hundred yards by large pumps drawing from the canal while listening to music booming from ten foot tall banks of speakers. It was all in good spirit and everyone was having a great time.
