The three slots in the porch to provide a way for water to run off the porch were cut but didnt go anywhere so water just pooled up. All the wood in the forward section of the porch is completely rotted away with a gaping hole as shown above. The supports holding the porch floor are also rotted away and will require sistering. This is a big expensive job but it has to be done soon. I scrapped the flaked off paint and will finish painting it this week (October 11). The entire porch has also settled about an inch causing some other problems as one section of the porch roof is lower.

I got an estimate last week for a complete rebuild for $4-5000. That particular guy is very expensive I heard however. That included everything including fixing the porch roof. The estimate was for a Fir floor..not the original Cedar.
