Programs Trained Red Cross volunteers stand ready throughout the San Juan islands to help educate and prepare for disasters, baby-sitting training to young people between the ages of 11 and 14, and certification in HIV/AIDS, certification as lifeguards and water safety instructors, and provide training in CPR and First Aid. Red Cross responds to the immediate needs of individuals who become temporarily homeless due to a fire. This year 5 families who had home fires were provided assistance, and 10 military families were provided casework services. 360-293-2911
