The Colville High School Jazz Band is a primarily student run organization that prides itself on its integrity and diversity. This year the CHS Jazz Band has attended two contests, one at Whitworth College in Spokane, WA, and one at Willamette College in Salem, Oregon, where they brought home a second place finish in the 3A division. The Jazz Band is not only a contest band, and has played for many local events including, The American Cancer Society "bruncheon," Colville Downtown Renovation Project, and more. The band's most aspiring accomplishment has to be its annual tour, all 18-21 members pack up for 4 days and travel across Washington State, Oregon, and Canada, to bring their 45 minute program to high school students at no charge. Maybe you saw them as they toured this year from May 4-7 in and around the Olympic Peninsula. The Jazz Band also will have a compact disc available for sale by Summer 1997. It will sell for $15, includes material from the band's tour, and will help support the Jazz Band and their various activities. |
