Beth Hetrick - (Art, Language Arts) Beth began teaching at Spring Street School in 1996. She earned her BA in Art and Humanities from the University of Southern California in 1970, and additional coursework and her teaching credential from Scripps Howard University in 1972. Beth has taught a wide variety of art and humanities classes for 28 years, at the Santa Monica and Ventura Schools in California and at Friday Harbor Elementary School. |
Peg Hope - (Director, Latin, English, Math) The founder of Spring Street School, Peg earned a BA in World Religions (magna cum laude) from Lawrence University in 1970, and her Wisconsin State teaching credential in 1972. Peg's teaching over the past 20 years has covered many areas of the middle and high school curriculum. She served as the Language Arts and Math Department Head at the Stanford High School in Redmond, Washington, where she also had primary responsibilities for the college-prep program, staff-training, curriculum development, diagnostic and vocational testing, as well as treatment programs for a variety of students. |

Ted Hope - (Social Studies, English, Overseas Coordinator) Ted began teaching at Spring Street School in 1996. He earned a BA in Political Science (cum laude) from Lawrence University in 1970, and a Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin in 1974. He earned his Wisconsin State teaching credential in 1972, and has taught a wide variety of social studies, college-prep, and language arts classes over the past 20 years. He was the Executive Director of the Stanford Middle and High Schools in Redmond, Washington for 10 years, and has held positions on a wide variety of boards including the San Juan Schools Foundation Board and the Board of Directors at the Whale Museum in Friday Harbor. |
Steve Dubail - (Computer Eccentric) Steve's been skulking around Spring Street School since 1996. In another life he's the system administrator and web master for the Town of Friday Harbor. Steve's been associated with local government for over a dozen years in increasingly obscure capacities. Steve attended Western Washington University and continues his professional training by scampering off to Bellevue every so often. Steve attributes his success with computers to a complete disdain for the welfare of his users. |

Eric Kessler - (Experiential Education Coordinator) Eric began teaching middle school science at Spring Street School in 1996. In 1997, he took over responsibility for the field studies and and wilderness trips program at the school. Eric received his BA in Natural History and Education from Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington in 1983 and special training in geology from MIT. He has extensive experience in leading wilderness and overseas travel programs for youth and adults over the past 12 years. Eric currently runs a freelance photography business and guides international education programs for a number of organizations. |
