Sound Nutrition is a natural health store located on the parking lot side of 849 Spring Street (under FH Pet Supply), owned and managed by RuthE. Wells. It is a retail source of herbs and nutritional supplements, flower essences, homeopathic remedies, essential oils, herbal hair color and other personal care products, health information books, protein supplements and bars, and a wide selection of herbal teas.
Although I am not a nutritionist or health care practitioner, I believe strongly in natural health measures, and I want to provide islanders access to quality products at a fair price. It is my policy to offer as many brands as I can at 10% off the suggested retail price.
I have a fairly small shop, and I choose my stock largely by customer preferences. So if you don't see what you're looking for, please ask. I have access to most national brands, and I'm happy to try to get what you need.
Regular shop hours are 10-5 on M-Tu-Th-F, and Wed. 12-5. If the workweek just isn't a convenient time for you, you can make an appointment for me to meet you in the shop on a Saturday.

Seeking to bridge the gulf between conventional and alternative approaches to health care, The Gourmet’s Galley is a valuable resource for people in all phases of exploration. We maintain an extensive collection of reference works for the purpose of getting to the bottom of conflicting reports, and Cindy makes good use of her cellular biology degree for sorting out those long molecular names and confusing jumbles of letters.
We avoid the promoting of products. YOU decide what you need, and we will do our best to provide it for you at a competitive price. If you wish, we can give you pros and cons for any of our products, but we feel that the person selling you a product should not be the same person who tells you that you need it.
We don’t automatically accept every health claim that comes along, but we are ready to respect every customer’s point of view. Bring your convictions or bring your doubts; we’ll adjust our assistance accordingly. Do you like in-depth investigation? We can do that. Do you like simple customer service without a lot of comment? We can do that, too.
Open Monday through Saturday from 10 o’clock to 5:30. Find us at the bottom of Spring Street, in The Arcade, way back in the dark.
