Orca Survey

Orcas in front of the Center for Whale Research

The ongoing mission of Orca Survey is to photoidentify and keep accurate records of all the orcas of the Southern Resident Community in the Greater Puget Sound area of the Pacific Northwest and use this data to understand the orcas' population dynamics. These photographic records combined with the monitoring of human activities helps to determine the possible impact of humans on these marine mammals. This information is then shared with scientific organizations, governments, conservation organizations, educational groups and the public.
